  Kenneth Cole
As a story told by Kenneth Cole, twenty years ago he wanted to open a shoe company with limited money (1982). He designed a collection of shoes in Europe and returned to United States to sell them. He didn't have the money to get a fancy showroom so he had an idea. He called a friend in the trucking business to borrow a truck. He went to the Mayor's office and asked how he would be able to get permission to park a 40 foot trailer truck in Midtown Manhattan. The Mayor said the only people the city gives parking permits to are production companies shooting full length motion pictures and utility companies. That day, Cole changed his company name from Kenneth Cole, Inc. to Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. He applied for the permit to shoot a movie called "The Birth of a Shoe Company". Their movie set included a 40 feet trailer with a director, models as actresses and two doormen - sometimes the camera had film, and sometimes it didn't. They sold 40 thousand pairs of shoes in two and a half days.
