Jean Patou
Jean Patou was a French fashion designer credited for introducing sportswear for women and the tennis skirt. He made the cardigan a fashion trend and invented the designer tie in the 1920s. The ties were made of women's dress materials and were sold near women's perfume counters. Wealthy American women were his top market until the stock market crashed. His company then only carried perfumes; among them are Joy and Sublime. Patou died in 1936 and his sister and her husband continued the house of Patou.
