  Donna Karan
Donna Karan founded her company in 1984, one that became publicly-traded in 1996. She was always surrounded by fashion; her mother was a showroom model and fashion sales rep and her father was a tailor. She also worked at Anne Klein as an associate designer. After three years and after the death of Klein in 1974, Louis Dell-Olio worked with Karan to release the Anne Klein Collection. Ten years after Klein passed away, Karan moved on to create her own brand. Karan believes it's not just about clothes, but the lifestyle. She launched collections for hosiery, intimates, eyewear, shoes, belts, and others. "Everything you need to pull yourself together," says Karan. She launched DKNY in 1989, a brand that quickly became popular.
